Vacuum Nitriding
A surface treatment that penetrates carbon into the surface of the steel to increase the hardness of the surface layer, thereby increasing the life of the tool.
Vacuum nitriding treatment:
Nitriding under vacuum results in an aesthetically pleasing appearance as there is little surface oxidation. In addition, there is virtually no effect on the dimensions of the mould, so vacuum nitriding is also suitable for plastic moulds and die-casting dies. For die-casting moulds it improves resistance to thermal cracking and erosion; for cold-worked, plastic moulds it improves wear resistance and service life.
